"The Home" Photo Contest

General Rules:
All countries accepted. Entrants must be 18 years or older. Photographer retains full copyright of material. Each entrant assumes responsibility of content of all images submitted and assumes all responsibilities of trademark and other copyright infringements. Each entrant must submit original works. Profotio reserves the right to use without compensation certain selected images for the promotion and the advertisement of contests sponsored by Profotio. Profotio also reserves the right to use without compensation certain selected images for the promotion and the advertisment of the Profotio website. Profotio reserves the right to publish the winning images in book form without compensation to entrants in order to help photographers in promoting and displaying their works to the general public. Participants are required to pay an entry fee in the amount of $15 (USD) upon submitting their photos. Entries without payment will not be processed. All entry fees are non-refundable. Contest may be void where prohibited. Participant assumes responsibility to their local laws governing this contest. Offensive or inappropriate images will not be accepted. Images that are not properly formatted will not be accepted. All winners will have their work announced and displayed on the Profotio website. All winners (including honorable mentions) will have their images displayed in the Profotio Online Gallery.

Judging Regulations:
Wining images will be selected on the following criteria:
25% credit to adherence to theme of contest
25% credit to originality of thought
25% to artistic interpretation
25% to photographic skills.
Images will be evaluated by the Profotio staff judging committee. All decisions are final.

Submission Details:
Both color and b&w pictures are accepted. Please submit all images online. Only JPG/JPEG files will be accepted. Images with watermarks, captions and/or borders will not be accepted. The size of the images should be 800 pixels as the largest dimension (width or height.) All layers should be flattened and have a jpg compression quality of 7 or 8. Images should be saved with a resolution of 72ppi. Images will be viewed as sRGB profiles. File names should be in the following format: Lastname_Firstname_image1.jpg, Lastname_Firstname_image2.jpg, etc. Do not use special characters. There should only be one period just prior to the file extension (i.e. .jpg). Please note: image title is not the same as file name. Each entrant may submit up to four (4) images.

Eligibility:
Contest is open to all individuals 18 years and older. All countries accepted. This competition is open to both professional and non-professionals. This contest is void where prohibited by law. Certain restrictions may apply. Local regulations and laws governing this contest may prohibit certain entries and disbursement of winnings. Each entrant assumes the responsibility to comply with all laws and regulations that govern their submissions and assumes the responsibility for their individual eligibility.

Deadline:
Entries will be accepted until October 8, 2010 (Midnight CST)

Notification:
All winners will be notified via email within 7-10 days after contest ends. At that time each winner will receive instructions on acceptance of their award(s). All cash prizes will be paid via Paypal™ or AlertPay™ only. Winning entrant has 30 (thirty) days to claim prize. After 30 days the prize and prize amount will be forfeited. Winners agree to pay all applicable taxes or charges imposed by any government entity. All prize amounts are final and are non-negotiable. The decision of the judge(s) is final.

Liability:
Profotio, the staff, owners, directors or affiliates/properties of Profotio neither assumes nor bears any responsibility for any form or type of loss, damage, or injury incurred as a result of participating in the contest and receiving of awards and/or prizes. Content of all images submitted is the responsibility of each entrant. It is the responsibility of each entrant to obtain all model and/or property releases. By submitting images each entrant assures that all images are their original works and no copyright and/or trademark infringement rights have been violated. It is not the responsibility of Profotio to obtain model and/or property release forms or to assure/examine protection of trademark infringement rights.
